The Hag is Back

I notice that if I write satirical things about politicians and events, people will read my blog, but if I use the word "economy" I get ignored for the day. Which makes me wonder if the economy was really such an important topic during the campaigns, or is it one of those things where our eyes glaze over and our head hurts at the mention of the word? We'd rather have the problem magically solved for us. Which is why Obama will become either our greatest President or our worst, depending on our economic status in four years.

I heard this story on the news last night: Laura Bush is already writing her memoirs, and an editor from Random House was at the White House talking to her about it. George Bush inquired when he should think of writing his memoirs too, and the answer was, oh, maybe in thirty or forty years...

There are 21 Republican governors, and they had a conference the last couple of days. Usually it's a schmooze-fest for Arnold Schwartzenegger, but this time he stayed home and the bright spot is Alaska's own Sarah Palin. She skipped an analysis on the shortcomings of the last campaign to give an exclusive interview with CNN. She's given 6 exclusive interviews in 7 days, all pretty much the same. She vents and complains, they don't ask any follow up questions or anything substantive. She continues to spout her little white lies and talking around a subject without saying anything at all, in a garbled and confused sort of way, don'tcha know. How terribly sad our Sarah will be in a year from now when she is ignored by the big boys and she has to stay at home and do what she does best, govern Alaska. Unless they impeach her, still a possibility...

Wow! James Dobson's ex-best friend Ted Haggard is back in the news! He went to Illinois to sell some insurance, and while he was there he got up and preached at a friend's church!

That's it. Not much of a story, but it made everyone around here jump up and take notice. The creepy part is the debate whether he is cured or not because he dropped out of his rehabilitation and hasn't been confirmed fit to preach by a body of Christ, whatever that gobbledegook means. That he is in denial and still likes to speed rap is obvious, but in denial of what? I think his wife recognizes that he just has to suck some d**k every now and then, most of us do...
